Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Avista Adventist Hospital

David A. Smith, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since 1997, provides leadership to a broad range of departments and services, including business development, ambulatory oversight, facilities, nutrition, laboratory, physical medicine and volunteers is an advocate for the associates, physicians and the management team. Dave joined Boulder Memorial Hospital in 1981 and has worked in many capacities over the years and has provided oversight for a variety of departments and functions such as human resources, patient access, facilities, construction liaison, and other clinical and support services.

Dave holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Organizational Management , both from the University of Phoenix and was awarded Student of the Year in 1996.

Dave is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and has served on a number of civic and professional boards, including the Broomfield Chamber of Commerce, the US36 Transportation Management Organization and the Boulder Seventh-day Adventist Church Finance Committee. Dave and his wife live in nearby Broomfield and have two grown children.
