    Adventist Hospital encourages you to learn about signs and risk factors for heart attack. Being able to quickly recognize the symptoms of heart attack and changing your modifiable risk factors can save your life or the life of a loved one.

    Symptoms of Heart Attack

    People may or may not experience any or all of these symptoms. Symptoms may come and go until finally becoming constant and severe. If you or someone you are with is experiencing the following signs of heart attack call 911 Immediately:

    • Chest pressure, squeezing, or discomfort
    • Back pain
    • Jaw pain
    • Shortness of breath
    • Pain that travels down one or both arms
    • Nausea
    • Feeling of fullness
    • Fatigue
    • Anxiety

    Risk Factors for Heart Attack

    Modifiable Risk Factors Include:

    • Tobacco smoking
    • High cholesterol
    • High blood pressure
    • Physical inactivity
    • Overweight, diabetes
    • Stress
    • Alcohol
    • Unhealthy diet 

    Non-Modifiable Risk Factors Include:

    • Older age
    • Male
    • Family history
